A small shop, a long list of things we can fix.

Affordable Custom Upholstery LLC is based in Ewing Township, New Jersey, and we work for customers all over New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

What we do, in plain terms

We upholster. That covers a wider range than most people expect: boats and cars, barber chairs, restaurant booths and banquettes, dining chairs, bar stools, sofas, ottomans, window seats, cushions and pads — and antique furniture most of all.

A lot of the work that comes through the door is something a previous shop turned down because it was awkward, or because the owner wanted the original frame kept rather than replaced. That is the work we like.

You will deal with the shop directly. Tell us what you have, send a photo if you can, and we will tell you what it needs and what it costs. If the honest answer is that it is not worth redoing, we will say so.

You do not have to work out how to get a sofa or a booth bench to us either. We pick up and deliver, so we can collect the piece and bring it back when the work is done.

And you are not choosing a covering off a screen. There are several hundred fabric samples in the shop to look through and handle before you commit — or bring your own fabric and we will work with that instead.

How we go about it

01

Take it apart first

You cannot cover a seat properly without knowing what is underneath it. We pull the old cover, look at the frame, the webbing and the springs, and fix what is actually broken before anything new goes on.

02

Match the piece, not the trend

An 1890s wingback should not come back looking like a 1990s sofa. Antiques get period-appropriate fabric, the original wood left alone, and the shape it was built with.

03

Say the number up front

Quotes are free and we do not move the goalposts. If a job turns out to need more than we thought once it is open, you hear about it before we spend another hour on it.

Antique furniture is where we spend the most time.

Chairs, settees and sofas that have been in a family for generations usually need more than a new cover. We re-web the frame, replace the stuffing and horsehair where it has given up, rebuild the seat to its original shape, and then match a covering that belongs on the piece.

The wood stays. The carving stays. The chair just stops sagging.

Bring us the odd one.

The chair with the strange shape, the boat cushion nobody stocks, the booth that has to fit an awkward corner. Send a photo and we will tell you what is possible.
